Death and taxes.

Wednesday, January 21st, 2004

If this isn’t the definition of a Kafkaesque death, I don’t know what is. I’m sure there’s a terrible joke in there somewhere about the Finns being quiet and reserved, but I’ll refrain from making it.

Okay, my bad: I fell for the urban legend, probably because it fit in with my unfair prejudices towards Finland. That’ll teach me to snoop on Snopes first and post later!

I don’t know if you saw this…or took my word for it. It was even announced as a news item on TV today…so they are a bit more behind the curve than we are. When the modern office most often is one cube after another, it shouldn’t be too difficult to imagine some poor soul, slumped over taxes…in Finnland. Sorry for sending along the misinformation!
