This is so, so sad. The West Pier is the most fantastic bit of architecture in Brighton, and it’s been languishing for far too many years. I nearly had a heart attack when I heard last night that something in Brighton had fallen into the sea, and the fact that actually only a bit of the pier has actually collapsed is rather cold comfort.

If that pier goes, I will definitely cry.
