My mom and dad and I were on our way to Tucson when we stopped at the Cafe Sonoita for a bit of lunch. Despite our initial intentions to eat something light and healthy, we all succumbed to the lure of the green chile cheeseburger. I was so famished before the burger showed up that I was reduced to stealing crackers off of other people’s (vacated) tables to assuage my hunger. When lunch did show up, my hunger was held in check just long enough for the obligatory food picture to be taken. The chile cheeseburger in fact consisted of two juicy, prime Arizona beef burgers, grilled to perfection, topped with an entire roasted green chile, fried onions, and gooey melted cheese. I slathered chipotle aioli on my burger bun for added oomph. It was sublime.
