I have nothing to blog… by
November 2007
Today, for the first time in quite a while, I feel as though I really have nothing to blog. Jeremy says, “There’s always something to blog. Blog what you’re thinking about right now.” Well, unfortunately, that’s not terribly interesting: I’m freezing, I’m tired, I’ve got tons of work, and I’m still suffering from sinus issues because of my lingering cold.
I finally broke down and went to the doctor today about the sinus thing, actually, because I was afraid the congestion was going to turn into an infection, if it hadn’t already. But the doctor checked me out and reckoned that I wasn’t a case for antibiotics (yet, anyway). Instead, she gave me some very common-sense advice: stay warm, stay hydrated, take ibuprofen and/or decongestants, eat hearty and healthy foods, and stay away from dairy products for a week because they “generate mucus”.
I haven’t done terribly well on any of those fronts today. I’m not warm, I’m sure I haven’t had enough water, I should have taken another ibuprofen several hours ago, and lunch consisted of a tuna melt with tons of bacon and a bag of chips (i.e., crisps), while dinner is going to be a takeaway curry. And since I don’t think I can go without my morning latte, I’m either going to have to put up with the mucus-generating effects of regular milk or take the radical step of trying soy milk. Neither option is really ideal.
On the plus side, I’m happy to not be taking antibiotics, I’ve cranked up the central heating and put on an extra jumper so I should be toasty soon, I’m also happy not to have to go shopping or cook, and I’m looking forward to an evening vegetating on the couch. So it’s not all bad.
One hour later: There, that’s better. Slippers and tea, a tummy full of veggie dhansak, a bit of Star Wars: A New Hope for entertainment—and another blog post written. Success!
