The first epic fantasy book I’ve read in years (apart from Lord of the Rings). I wasn’t too sure about it at first, but over the course of its hundreds and hundreds of pages, I was rather drawn in by the characters and their intrigues. There are many more novels in the series, and I intend to read at least some of them—but I’m afraid I’ll have to go back and re-read this one first since I’ve almost entirely forgotten who has done what to whom and what the consequences were…
