Imperium by Robert Harris

For intelligent “airport reading”, you can’t really go wrong with Robert Harris. Fatherland remains my favorite Harris book, but maybe that’s just because I have a deep interest in German history. I have it on good authority that Imperium is very satisfying for Roman history buffs, and even as someone who knows painfully little about Roman history, I enjoyed Imperium more and more as it went along. It’s not life-changing, but it’s a good read.
