Raven Stratagem (The Machineries of Empire, #2) by
I very much liked this second book in the Machineries of Empire series. It felt less bewildering and more straightforward than the first book (which is meant as neither praise nor criticism, just an observation), though there are some nice twists and turns. Almost all of the characters feel very fully fleshed-out, which makes them interesting and makes you care about them, so much so that I was genuinely sad about some character developments and on the edge of my seat with others. A solid sequel, and I look forward to the next one.
