Aurora by Kim Stanley Robinson

June 2017

After slogging through 2312 and eventually skimming through most of The Years of Rice and Salt because I was so bored, I decided to give Kim Stanley Robinson just one last chance. And I am SO glad I did. I found Aurora to be gripping and touching and insightful. It fascinated me with its tough look at how humans might colonize space (or not), and it moved me with its depictions of its characters, both human and otherwise. I raced through the book and didn’t want it to end—and when it did end, I felt sad but very satisfied. A good read indeed.
