I really wanted to like this. I like the premise, and I like having a good, long book to sink my teeth into, and I’m fine with sprawling plots and all that - but god, was I bored. I’m not the type of person to give up on a book, but I eventually found myself just skimming pages to get through it all. I recently read 2312 and had a similar (though not nearly as extreme) reaction to it, so I think KSR books just aren’t for me.
