Ooh, what a fun website! First Lines is, at the site says itself, "a sort of literacy test". It’s a collection of the opening sentences of books. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to guess the corresponding book for each opening sentence.

I did a pretty good job with the Story Time and Books I Read at Recess sections - I guess the books I read or heard of as a kid left a big impression on me. I wasn’t too bad in the Nobel laureate and translation sections either - though a lot of the titles that I got right were more products of educated guessing than of any personal memory I had of reading a certain book.

All in all, an interesting way to while away the time, and a good reminder of all the books you feel should have read but haven’t.
