I'm there.

Two things from the past two days that caused me to shriek with excitement:

First of all, to follow up on the amazing Book of Kells experience in Dublin, the British Library is very conveniently holding an exhibition on the Lindisfarne Gospels that will run until the end of September. The British Library also offers an absolutely awesome application for virtually flipping through and examining the pages of the Lindisfarne Gospels (and other manuscripts as well), to whet your appetite for the real thing.

And then there was this: starting in September, the Science Museum in London will be holding a massive Lord of the Rings exhibition - with actual costumes from the films! And jewelry! And armor! And weapons! And behind-the-scenes special effects stuff! And did I mention costumes and jewelry…?

This will more than make up for the fact that I never made it to the Star Wars “Magic of Myth” exhibition held at the National Air and Space Museum in Washington several years ago. This, as Jeremy so aptly put it, is pure geek heaven.
