It's not all bad...

In a world full of depressing news, I thought I’d blog something optimistic and amazing: at the University of California, doctors have developed a "corkscrew" that can remove blod clots from the brains of stroke victims, in some cases completely reversing the effects of the stroke:

"Sidney Starkman, a professor of emergency medicine who developed the device, said: ‘We have had patients completely paralysed on one side of their body, who were made normal almost instantaneously when the clot was retrieved.’"

I think that is absolutely fantastic. Yay, doctors!
