Being thankful.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I’m thankful for a lot of things today. Though I like a good moan as much as anyone and probably tend to blog more about gripes than good stuff, I am acutely aware of just how lucky I am to lead the life I lead. On the greater scale of things my complaints are trivial, and I recognize this even as I occasionally allow myself the indulgence of wallowing in those complaints.

My first thought this morning was that I was thankful to wake up to sunshine instead of lashing rain like we’ve had non-stop for weeks. This was only possible because I slept in late and apparently missed an early-morning hailstorm, so I’m also thankful for the opportunity to sleep in late.

I’m thankful for little things, like a really good cup of coffee first thing in the morning, and big things, like having a warm, snug house to protect me from the elements. I’m thankful for the opportunities and experiences I’ve had throughout my life, for all the things I’ve been able to do and for all the things I haven’t had to do. And, as always, I’m mostly thankful for my family, my friends and my health; there’s nothing in the world more important to me.

So, yay for Thanksgiving! Your regular griping will resume tomorrow.
