The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon

September 2004

This book is a breeze to read, and - as every book reviewer before me has already said - it's funny, poignant and fascinating. The way the main story unfolds to reveal the deeper story about the life of the immensely likable autistic narrator reminded me a lot of Paddy Clarke Ha Ha Ha by Roddy Doyle. They're both books where what's not said, or what is referenced only obliquely, packs as much of a punch as what is described in perfect detail. A fast, fun and very engaging book.
