The Yiddish Policemen’s Union by Michael Chabon

I’m not generally a fan of “hard-boiled” detective fiction, but I am a fan of Michael Chabon’s unique brand of Jewish magical realism, and I love a good alternative history yarn, so I enjoyed this book. I remember being impressed with the beautiful writing in Chabon’s The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay, and that same skill is on display here. A fun and occasionally very moving read.
