I’ve cursed my decision to become a translator and specialise in the history of Teutonic atrocities a thousand times over the last couple of days. ‘A chocolate maker or tobacco blender, that’s what I should have become!’, I kept telling myself. ‘And it would have been much healthier’, I thought. Now I know better. There’s no way I would have been able to stand the pressure and one-upmanship in that business.
