Holidailies are comin’.
Saturday, December 1st, 2007
I’ve clearly lost my mind. NaBloPoMo has just ended, and instead of sitting back, relaxing and giving myself a little blogging break, what do I do? I sign up for Holidailies 2007.
Holidailies is like NaBloPoMo for the month of December: “Holidailies participants solemnly vow to update their Web sites daily from Dec. 1 to Jan. 1.” Actually, it’s even more strict than NaBloPoMo in that you can’t get away with one-line blog posts or with just responding to memes or quizzes. You’re expected to write about 50 words or post one photo every day, and if you’re participating in the full-on Holidailies program, you have to post a daily summary of your daily blog post to the Holidailies portal.
I’m wimping out a bit in that I’ve only signed up for Holidailies at Home, which means I have to update my site every day but I don’t have to post anything to the portal. This seemed to be the smart thing to do, as it’s going to be tough enough just updating WordRidden considering the hectic holiday season and the transatlantic traveling I’m going to be doing this month.
Well, I did say I perform better when I have a goal, and I did say I’ve enjoyed having WordRidden going full steam ahead again, so Holidailies seemed like a good way to keep up the momentum. Whether I’ll make it through or not remains to be seen. But in accordance with the Holidailies guidelines, I do promise to try “reallyreally hard” to update every day for the next month. Again.
